An immersive 425 square meter piece, Peter Zimmermann has radically changed the Freiburg Museum by flooding its floors with vibrant and colorful pools of resin. The immersive piece covers nearly 425 square meters, capturing the attention of any visitor with its abstract and fluid appearance. The dreamy space allows one to examine paintings on the wall in a different light, heightening senses. Zimmermann was inspired by a hesitation towards common means of education and communication, such as one-stop-shop tour guides and encyclopedias, while also his personal reflection of the shift from a centrally-organized learning system to one of crowdsourcing. Additionally the multi-layered pieces are meant to symbolize computer-based motifs such as tabs, icons and windows.
